Third Grade Update

Curriculum

Reading:  Students are working on responding to their journal using the source, thinking , and evidence.

Writing: Students are discovering ways to collect ideas as a writer. Also, students are immersing in mentor narrative text, noticing text structure and plot.

Math: Students are working on money using dollar-cent notations and finding differences between larger numbers.

Science: Students are using the scientific process through experiments. This week we followed the whole process!

Social Studies: Students are working on the RIGHT behaviors in school and what to do if others around them are not ok.

Word Work: Students have been practicing all the different sorts (individual, buddy, blind, and write).. They will be receiving their individual word work list on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Reminders

Student may bring a HEALTHY snack and water every day.

Student need to bring/wear tennis shoes on PE days.

Curriculum

Reading:  Students are working on what Reader’s Workshop looks like and how to have discussions one-one, in groups, and as a class.

Writing: Students are discovering ways to collect ideas as a writer.

Math: Students are working on different types of graphs, equivalent names, and finding differences between larger numbers.

Science: Students are using the scientific process through experiments. This week we discussed importance of teamwork. Ask them how they “Saved Fred”.

Social Studies: Students are working on the RIGHT behaviors in school and what to do if others around them are not ok.

Word Work: Student have been studying nouns (proper, pronoun, plural, and irregular). They will be receiving their individualword work list on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Third Grade Team

First Week of School

Everyone had a great first week. As students learned classroom rules, we were able to start the learning process in each subject. Everyone worked very hard, and we are looking forward to another great week. We can't wait to see everyone on Monday!

Curriculum Night is Tuesday, August 19th. There will be two sessions you can attend. One session will be at 6 pm in the library and the other will be at 6:45 pm in the library. All third grade will be together for curriculum night. There will be a lot of important information that is covered, so we hope you can attend.
